Response to the audio…

The New game.

 I know a person. This person is a female. She had allways had many friends and a lot of family to count on. The only thing is, that she wanted more. Social interactions that she had been having were only keeping her content. You could say that she had so much social interaction that she need a place where she could be alone, independent. She now has a son and a boyfriend that has been with her since she was 16. She grew over weight and seems to hate, but love, conflict at the same time. As selfish as she seems at times, she is also a very caring and giving person. I think that this somehow conflicts her interests. She used to play this game when she was younger. I think it must have been her alone place.

 I would say this new game is directed towards a young audience particularly females, in highschool. It seems as though it is meant to disgust the audience in such a way that they would not wish to try it. At the same time sending a messege that people try new things, yet all new things shouldn’t be attempted.

            For some reason I am not seeing this acronym the author speaks of? Well this is no C.R.A.P. little handbook. I found this to be a simple yet brilliant way of getting the most important design elements across. (are there really others?)I think Mr. Williams has concluded that a page or other design in order to be attractive and catchy must be unified through these 4 design elements, in order to maintain ease of readability and to get the point across. If all 4 elements are working together each one must cohere to the other.

However in my personal opinion if you have to sacrifice three in order to appear un-barbaric, I would start with alignment. I think this is the most important.

If these 4 are building blocks, I would say that alignment is the foundation. From there, if you were to somehow rearrange it, you must then use repetition, then proximity and the contrast to drive the point home.  All working together to form something that is very deliberate and effective.

Remediation V + Mediation

 I would say that this is an extensive description of what may be said with much fewer words. What I am getting from this, is that mediation is an attempt to evoke a response and validate reality by capturing your attention and involving you. (in this sense) Mediation can also be thought of as a way of conveying concepts and realities known or unknown through another perspective.

Remediation is somewhat supplemental or total recreation of the mediation. Perhaps it is in order to create a differential reality to the original mediation.

To tell you the truth, this reading was very wordy and I can only hope that I have in someway been enlightened.

This has been somewhat of an excruciating process in trying to decide what to focus on. I have been from schools, to immigration and narrowed it down to the city of Mansfield. I found that either the subjects were to broad or they were highly difficult to convey given the parameters and limitations.

I made 3 different bumpers stickers; 2 sketches and one on my computer. Lets hope that will suffice.

THERSDAI

Im just going to throw some of my ideas out there about this political campaign assignment.

I was asking different people about what they thought was important to them right now. I heard things about FEMA: about being choosey as to who gets relief aid. (recent flood issue) this seemed like something worth getting into. Yet I am ot sure how to approach it. Another thought is the issues concerning factory jobs. Looking through the news journals website, there was a “buy american” link. I may actually go with this. I think that most campaigners for this have missed the mark, and haven’t realy drove home the fact of why its so important. As a note I also found a poll that included the top issues that voters will be following, among the top 2 were the ECONOMY and IMMIGRATION. I personnaly would love the follow the immigration issue further. I am all about dissallowing it. Its for the same reasons as BUY AMERICAN.

He is just a man..

For my image I decided to go through my photos I had taken at the American LeMans race at Mid-Ohio from July. I chose an image of a driver sitting by his car on the starting line, pre race. Among the noise of the crews officials, and broadcasters this man appeared to be saying a prayer or simply just relaxing his mind. I layered this photo four ways and enhanced the color, took away color as well as contrasted the focal point. It would appear that the image is cut an pasted together from different images. None the less it is a single moment in time.

This is what I deem as gender based as most of the drivers and the audience is male. I think it gives a glimpse into the drivers soul, and humanizes him. When the cars are circling the track at speeds of 150mph plus, we tend to take it for granted that he is still just a man. That is why I added the text on the top and bottom, not only did it “case” the focal point, but it adds a clear message as to what I am trying to say. It should attach you to the man and convey respect.

                      Visual Strategy

Paying attention to visual strategies  allows us to pick up on those subtle elements that attract us to a particular text, or advertisement. I am talking about those elements in regards to what they make us feel when we see them. What DRAWS YOU IN? By incorporating those techniques used by others, we may ourselves use them to our advantage.

2.I am going to use an add campaign on television as an example. I assume everyone is familiar with the Geico commercials on the tube.. Interestingly they use a number of different characters to promote the company. I was recently subjected to the Beverly Hillbillies campaign. Perhaps they are targeting people from that era when this was a very popular t.v. show.  It is humorous, which lightens peoples hearts. They can now relate to this show that they know, and insurance. Now of course we all know Jed really didn’t have a laptop in his shack, but when people think about the Beverly Hillbillies the next time, they are sure to think of Geico.

• This page has a simple but striking design.

• Bright ORANGE contrast the Black, without straining the eyes.

• The Type is of a lighter color, sort of a grey..also…doesn’t make you uncomfortable.

• The arrangement points you in the right direction, with the angular rays pointing downward at the top and separate posts clearly defined on the left.

• It makes the page appear as though it is some sort of secret, Dark, yet edgy .
